Glock 34 Vs 17 - I currently have a Glock 17 gen 5 that I enjoy shooting with. This is my night weapon and sometimes open. I tried other brands like Sig and HK but found that I personally shoot better with Glocks. The only thing I improved is the 3.5lb trigger coupler from the glock magazine.

That being said, I am in the market for another pistol and want something a little different. I already know most people say the Glock 19 shoots about the same as the 17. I'll probably get one of those for CCW. I want to know... How does the 17th gen 5 differ from the 34th gen 5? and yes i know it has a longer barrel. If I pick up the 34 I plan on getting the MOS and red dot. It will be long distance/recreational, no competition.

Honestly, both 19 and 34 are great. I really like the Gen 5 34 because it doesn't have a slide. If you ever plan to carry, get the 19. If you're only going to use it for fun or home defense, get the 34 MOS Gen 5. If you want better and more reliable RDS shutter coupling, don't. get MOS and grinder 34.4.

Glock 19x (g19x), Glock 19 (g19) Gen5, Glock 17 (g17) Gen5, And Glock 34 ( G34) Gen5 At The Range: Some Interesting New Pistols

I can't speak for the Gen5 34, but my Gen4 34 shoots very smooth. Very clear trigger pull (factory). Not sure if I just got a particularly good one, but I doubt you'll be disappointed with any Gen of 34 OP.

I can't answer the comparison between G34 and G17 yet because I'm waiting for my G34 to arrive (I won the GSSF match and paid the upgrade fee).

However, it depends on what you want. You seem to be mixing up two different missions: 1) a fun and powerful shooting cannon that is very practical, and 2) deeper camouflage for a portable item. Most will say that the G34 offers only minor improvements over the G17 in exchange for a longer barrel and sight radius AND a lighter factory trigger. The G19 is the most popular service-sized CCW pistol in the US, but the G17 can be perfectly concealed in most situations where you could conceal a 19. The 19 is not generally considered a deep concealed carry pistol.

So, do you want a high-performance carry competition pistol (the same size as a 1911), or do you want concealed carry that fits into clothing that doesn't fit your current pistol?

Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 26, Glock 34

If I already had a G17 and needed a deep carry gun, I personally wouldn't go for the G19.

Another option would be to get another holster to hide the G17 in and use the money saved for ammo! Also go shoot it at GSSF and win a G34 like me.

Most Gen 5 34 models have front notches. There were some early Gen 5 34's that didn't have the cut. I have a 17 Gen 5 and a 34 MOS Gen 5 with no cuts. I use a Trijicon RMR and it looks great, shoots great. But for me, and this is all my personal preference, this is my least favorite Glock. No problem to report, just no love listed. It's weird for me because I'm not a big fan of the S&W M&P, but I have an M&P Pro 9 (long slide) and it's better IMHO. Now the weird part is the “better” quantification. I try and I can't. All preferences.

I plan to eventually get a Glock 19 gen 5 for CCW. I currently have a 5th gen G17 and a 4th gen G20 and I was wondering if the G34 makes a big difference over the G17.

I only have a Gen 3 and have been shooting the 34-3 in competition for several years. Given your choices, and to do it over again, I'd go with the 19 for carry, IDPA, steel, IPSC, etc., etc., etc.

This is just my opinion. but I really like 34, I would just do it differently.

The G17 is very easy to conceal thanks to a specially designed holster and clothing. Click to expand... While you can hide the G17 by spending time on your holster and wardrobe, the same can be said for a brick. Many people prefer CC 17, but most do NOT! And there's a reason for that, it's NOT "extremely stealthy". Getting a CC G17 requires some serious effort. I will add that I am in no way condemning your decision to do so, however "Merika and your personal decision". Where I say no is the claims that it's easy. Most people find it much easier to conceal a single Glock or a size 19/23 than a full size.

Competition Setup Gen4 Glock 34 Mos

I doubt you will feel the difference, I don't. I have about 2200 rounds through my MOS G34 Gen 5 and have fired 17 but not that many. Longer slides spin a little slower than a 17, that's all.

With optics, aiming radius won't matter because you won't be aligning the sights. Sure, a longer barrel might give you some extra momentum, but unless you're resting on a bench in a bull's-eye (and why would you shoot a Glock if you were?), you'd be hard-pressed to notice. 34 will weigh a little more, that's all.

The difference is only in the length of the handle
